IPAS is the Plug-in system currently in use on Autodesk's 3DStudio.
It stands for Image processing, Procedural modeling, Animated stand-in
and Solid pattern external process. There are also additonal Keyframer
and Bitmap IPAS' now.
If Lightwave's Plug-in technology is similar you can look foreward to an
incredible amount of sophisticated effects and procedures such as particle
physics, collission detection even whole new interfaces as seen in the latest
release (R 4.0)of 3DStudio.
I myself am just curious as to how on Earth Allen and Stuart managed
such a robust plug-in feature that is cross-platform compatible!
3DStudio's IPAS routines on the other hand are so finicky that they
take a specific compiler and are definately not for the faint of heart.
Allen/Stuart, How soon can we get our kits to start writing these things?!!

: Cool. I have another question now. What's IPAS?
: Also, will the collission detection be part of 4.0 as the industry rumors
: have led me to believe, or will the Plug-in technology simply *allow* for
: someone to write a collission detection / inverse kniematics / physical
: attribute Plug-in?
